Oxygen Therapy is treatment involving breathing concentrated Oxygen in a pressurized environment. This stimulates healing from the inside out.
The body’s tissues require a specific amount of Oxygen in order to function correctly; we do that when we breathe. When tissue is damaged or injured Oxygen is needed for it to heal and if the damage is significant enough sometimes Oxygen cannot get to the area. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases the amount of Oxygen the blood can carry and the pressure helps the path of the Oxygen to reach the damaged areas. Physician recommendations can vary but usually are in a block of 6, 12, 20, or 50 “dives” over an extended period of time. These repeated infusions help the body heal even past the completion of the therapy.
